The lack of large cities near the Mesa Verde region means no light pollution, and some of the best stargazing opportunities in the Southwestern United States. In addition, most nights during the summer are cloudless. On a moonless night, the view of the billions of stars of the Milky Way spreading above you in all directions is truly unforgettable.

The best sights for stargazing in Mesa Verde are the Far View Lodge, the Morefield Campground, and the Montezume and Mancos Overlooks. Far View Lodge is the only lodging available at the park. Each room has a deck that’s perfect for a late night stargazing session.
