Each year, the Bridger-Teton National Forest is covered in more than 600 inches of light, powdery snow. From November to April, you can take a snowmobile tour to experience the grand mountains, snowy scenery, and abundant wildlife first-hand. Greys River Snowmobiling Tour
There’s so much fun to be had gliding through the powdery Wyoming snow.
The Greys River snowmobile tour is either a half-day or full-day tour, depending on how much time you want to spend. You’ll explore Greys River, a tributary of Snake River, on the snowmobile excursion. The tour gives you the opportunity to take in stunning mountain views and river vistas.
The half-day Greys River tour includes gear, 20 to 40 miles of trail riding, and potential wildlife sightings. The full-day Greys River snowmobile tour includes gear, 60 to 100 miles of trail riding, and a stop at Box Y Lodge for lunch.
Granite Hot Springs Snowmobiling Tour

Tucked in the Gros Ventre Mountains, there’s a pool heated and fed from deep underground by a natural hot spring. In the winter, the only way to get there is on the back of a snowmobile. Throw on your swimsuit under your gear and get ready for an adventure.
The Granite Hot Springs snowmobile tour is either a half-day or full-day tour. The half-day tour includes gear, snacks, a 20-mile ride, and 30 minutes soaking in the pool. The full-day tour includes gear, lunch, 20 to 35 miles of snowmobiling, and one to two hours to relax in the hot spring.
Bridger-Teton Snowmobiling Tour
The half-day Bridger-Teton snowmobile tour takes visitors right into the heart of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Depending on the group, the tour will cover between 10 and 40 miles of snowmobile trail, stopping periodically to take in the majestic scenery of the forest.
Choose between a morning or afternoon tour, depending on your other plans for the day. Each guest is provided with a snowmobile, gear, granola bars, and water.
Wildlife Snowmobiling Tour

While many people come to Wyoming for the natural wonders such as the mountains, rivers, and trees — there’s even more to see. If you know just where to look, you can also catch a glimpse of elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, eagles, wolves, and other animals. The Wildlife snowmobile tour also offers adventurers the opportunity to see where the 1925 landslide wiped away the town of Kelly.
The Wildlife tour lasts approximately six hours, includes about 30 miles of trail riding, gear, and snacks. This is a great tour for novices as well as more experienced riders.
Brooks Lake Snowmobiling Tour

Hidden in Wyoming’s Rocky Mountains is the Brooks Lake Lodge, built in 1922 as a place to rest for tourists traveling from Yellowstone into Wyoming. During the winter, the only way to get to Brooks Lake Lodge, located at 9200 feet, is by snowmobile, snow coach or skis. The Brooks Lake snowmobile tour takes you right to the top where you’ll get to go inside, warm up, and enjoy a gourmet lunch in the lodge.
This full-day tour includes gear, lunch, snowmobile riding, and a stop at Brooks Lake Lodge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Snowmobiling Packing List
Weather can change quickly in the mountains, so make sure you’re prepared with all the necessary gear.
One of the many benefits of taking a snowmobile tour is that you don’t need to bring your own gear. While the amenities vary slightly between tours, all tours provide riders with the basics they’ll need to enjoy their tour.

- Waterproof bib (essentially, snow pants)
- Waterproof jacket
- Boots
- Gloves
- Helmet
- Either granola bars or lunch
- Water
While much of what you’ll need will be provided by the tour company, there are some items that you should bring with you.
What you should pack:
- Sunglasses
- Ski goggles
- Sunscreen
- Wool hat
- Neck gator
- Face mask, scarf, or bandana
- Thermal long underwear
- Wool socks
- Small, secure pack to take on your snowmobile ride to carry your camera, water bottle, sunscreen, spare gloves, phone, binoculars, or anything else you might need.
Togwotee Mountain Lodge

If you’re looking to extend the snowmobiling fun, drive about 50 miles northeast and stay at Togwotee Mountain Lodge. Also known as the World Premier Snowmobile Resort, Togwotee Mountain Lodge is conveniently located within Bridger-Teton National Forest and has access to snowmobile rentals and experienced guides.
