Mountain Biking in Togwotee

For a wonderful summer adventure, mountain biking through the Bridger-Teton National Forests surrounding Togwotee is sure hard to beat. And with tons of trails at all difficulty levels—from easy trail rides with little elevation change to expert downhill single-track rides through pine forests—this place is a paradise for mountain bikers.

Biking tours are available, too, and operated out of Togwotee Mountain Lodge. They offer five tours, each taking you and your group through a different area of the beautiful region.

The easiest tour is the Antelope Flats Bike Tour, which, as its name suggests, is a fairly flat ride through the sagebrush flats on the eastern slopes of Grand Teton National Park. With great views of the range, this is a great half-day tour for the casual rider.

For a fuller day, the Bondurant Mountain Bike Tour is a moderate course that follows a dirt service road through the contours of Cliff Creek, and offers staggering views of the Wyoming and Gros Ventre Mountain Ranges.

Fans of the beautiful lush meadows of Togwotee pass will love the 6-hr Buffalo Valley Bike Tour, a trip which takes you through the the mountain pine forests of the Angle Mountain area and the alpine meadows of Buffalo River Valley.

Spread Creek Drainage Mountain Bike Tour follows a breathtaking creek to mountain meadows and aspen groves. On the journey you’ll see great views of the mountain ranges and find moderate difficulty on this 4 hour trip.

Finally, the Flagstaff Mountain Bike Tour is considered the classic Togwotee experience. Beginning with a ride through the high alpine meadows of Togwotee Pass and taking you along the Flagstaff Creek through to the Lily Lake and Sagebrush Flats, you’ll get a full Togwotee experience, complete with beautiful wildflowers, alpine waters and gorgeous scenery.
