Details You Should Know About Wahweap RV & Campground

Prior to your scheduled stay at Wahweap RV & Campground, here are some details you’ll need to know:

• Campsites: All of the sites are spacious with great views of Lake Powell. Both RV sites and tent sites offer fire pits and all of the sites have newly paved hardscapes, landscaping, and picnic benches. Many campers comment on how clean the campground is. While there are some trees, shade can be harder to come by. So, be sure to bring a shade tent in warmer months.
• RV Campsites: The RV sites accommodate just about any RV set up with level, wide RV pads and full hookups (both 50 amp and 30 amp).  Airstream travel trailers are also available for rent.
• Campsite Amenities: Each campsite also has access to nearby restrooms, showers, fish cleaning stations, electrical outlets, laundry facilities, and convenience stores.
• Activities Galore: One of the best parts of Wahweap RV & Campground is that there are so many things to do once you get settled. The campsite is 0.25 miles from Lake Powell Resort & Marinas, where campers can sign up for Lake Powell boat tours, rent paddleboards, kayaks, or personalized watercraft. It’s only an 8-minute walk to a swimming beach, so campers often bring wagons to carry coolers and gear down to the waterfront.
• Local Restaurants: Just about 1 mile away are a range of restaurants around the Wahweap Marina including Wahweap Grille, serving pizza and American style food. Driftwood Lounge offers cocktails and appetizers, perfect for happy hour before grilling your own dinner at your campsite. The Rainbow Room offers higher-end fare serving breakfast and dinner with spectacular views of the lake.

• Glen Canyon National Recreation Area: It’s important to note that Wahweap RV & Campground is located inside of the Glen Canyon National Recreation area. The entrance fees to the recreation areas are $30 and are separate from your camping reservation costs. If you have purchased an annual National Parks Pass this year, it covers these entrance fees.
  
  Once you are in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the Carl Hayden Visitor Center at Glen Canyon Dam is located just 11 minutes from Wahweap RV & Campground by car. This is a great day trip with interactive exhibits, introductory films, a bookstore, and tours of the dam provided by Glen Canyon Conservancy.
• Group Camping Area – Loop G: Wahweap also offers a group campsite, which can accommodate 9 to 25 people or 8 to 10 tents depending on size, per site. There are specific restrooms centrally located in the Group area.
• Page, Arizona: Wahweap RV & Campground is about 20 minutes from downtown Page, Arizona. So, if you need anything that can’t be found in the marina, the town is just a short drive away.

• Refillable water bottles to stay hydrated during the day
• A wagon to carry your swimming gear and coolers down to the waterfront swimming area
• Quarters for the showers
• Bathing suits and quick-dry towels
• Sandals for the showers
• Long sleeves for sun protection (if you’re prone to burning)
• Spare trash bags to bring with you to swimming areas 
• Dry ice can keep up to 5 days. Block ice also stays cooler much longer than bags of ice — either one is a must in the summer heat!
• Cell phone reception can be spotty at Wahweap; bring radios to communicate with your party

Things to Do While Camping at Wahweap RV & Campground

Rent Power Boats at Lake Powell

Campers love Lake Powell for water activities including skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. To rent a powerboat, the person (or persons) operating the vessel must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.

No driver’s license? No problem. There’s still plenty to do at Wahweap RV & Campground.

Non-Boating Activities at Lake Powell

Plenty of campers spend their days swimming or floating in the swim areas, or exploring one of Lake Powell’s 96 canyons by renting kayaks or paddleboards. 

Campers shouldn’t miss nearby Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe Bend is an iconic site, close in proximity to Wahweap RV & Campground. Be sure to bring your receipt for the entry fee into Glen Canyon National Recreation Area when you visit, as Horseshoe Bend is also a fee area within the recreation area, operated by the National Park Service.

The nearby slot canyons, which include famed Antelope Canyon, are also close to Wahweap RV & Campground. These spectacular canyons offer colors as you’ve never seen, twisting and turning in indescribably beautiful formations. Visitors are required to be accompanied by a tribal guide and tours may be booked in Page, AZ. 

Fishing at Lake Powell is another must-try experience for any outdoor enthusiast. With local guides and tours, campers can enjoy fishing in some of the deeper waters of Lake Powell. Although, plenty of fish can be caught simply fishing from the shore. A fishing license is required and should be purchased before you arrive at any of the marinas.

Sunset spotting is one activity that shouldn’t be missed whether or not you rent a powerboat. The sunsets at Lake Powell are one of a kind, so grab a cool beverage, pull up a chair, and enjoy the show!
