Designated by UNESCO as an International Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site, Olympic consists of several distinct ecosystems. The over 70 miles of rugged and beautiful pacific coastline, the wild, magical forests, the glacier-capped mountains and the calm lakes, make for an almost impossibly diverse and wide range of natural beauty.
Olympic National Park History
In 1938, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt entrusted Olympic Park as a National Park initiative. In the mid-70s, Olympic was designated an International Biosphere Reserve and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981. Its rugged, remote beauty is federally protected from commercial logging in its most remote parts, so visitors can expect a true deep-woods experience, as well as access to lakes, beaches, and waterfalls.
If you and your family are looking for a pristine, multi-terrain getaway that gives you access to deep, undisturbed rainforest, waterfalls and beaches, Olympic National Park will far exceed your expectations. Visitors tell us there’s so much to do and see, one trip is never enough — and typically, one visit turns into multiple-year returns for our Olympic visitors. Explore kayaking, lodging, fine dining, snowboarding and skiing, and more at Olympic National Park, all year round.
