Raft the Nenana River

Denali National Park and Preserve, AK

Raft the Nenana River

The Nenana River is an extremely popular destination for whitewater rafting in Alaska for its multiple classes of rapids, Class II, III, IV, and even V and the incredible rafting tours that can bring even the most novice rafter out into their twists and turns.

The tours offer rafting on different segments of the river depending on rapid class, but each provide a three to four hour rafting experience under the direction of a professional guide. The Nenana river flows north through the heart of the Denali mountain range and is a beautiful, part calm part extreme way to explore and see the Alaskan wilderness.

For the less extreme, there are scenic, calm tours that are great for all ages 5+. For those looking for a little more interaction, there are tours that require all passengers to paddle together to get through some of the more tough rapids.

Part of the fun of the tour is getting wet! While the water is cold (it’s runoff from the snowcapped peaks), the companies provide drysuits that keep you warm.

Tours depart from Denali Park Village
