National Park Week in 2022 is celebrated from April 16 – 24. No matter where you are, you’ll still be able to join in the celebrations since they range from digital to social to in-person events.

The week kicks off with an entrance-fee-free day on April 16. This means that all National Park Service locations that charge an entry fee will waive that fee on that day. This could save you up to $35 at some parks. That said, we always recommend purchasing an annual parks pass or, if you qualify (for example, military and veterans) acquiring a complimentary or low-cost annual pass.

As a reminder, here are the entrance-fee free days in 2022:

• January 17: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
• April 16: First day of National Park Week
• August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
• September 24: National Public Lands Day
• November 11: Veterans Day

• March: “Women’s History Month: Providing Healing, Promoting Hope”

• August: “NPS Birthday: A Year Older, An Inch Taller”

• October: “STEAM-Powered Parks”
• November: “Native American Heritage Month”
• December: “Parked at Home”
