Lather on the sunscreen, the water’s fine.
Minus those crazy triathletes among us, most of us don’t have much time for swimming in our daily lives. And so when we get the chance to take a dip in cool water, we revel in it. To swim is to feel a sense of wonder that is nostalgic of childhood, and it comes with the freedom inherent to the feeling of weightlessness usually reserved for astronauts.
To swim in a pool is one thing, but to swim in a pool surrounded by some of the best natural scenery our fine Planet Earth has to offer? Well, now. That’s another thing entirely. The warm sun on our backs, the smell of sunscreen. Our National Parks and protected lands offer unique swimming opportunities, in lakes, rivers, streams, and even pools, built in some of the most majestic places in America.
