Located in the Superstition Wilderness about 65 miles northeast of Phoenix, AZ, Apache Lake is one of the most popular recreational lakes in Arizona because it has something for everyone: hiking, boating, fishing, water skiing, camping, and more! The Burnt Corral Campground is located on the northern (upper) end of Apache Lake, which spans about 17 miles in length. If you are coming from Hwy 188, the Upper Burnt Corral Campground is about 5.2 miles past the Roosevelt bridge and the Lower Burnt Corral Campground is another .7 miles. Both campgrounds have restrooms and water spigots. While there are no fees for the campsites themselves, you will need to purchase a Tonto Pass for each vehicle / boat. You can purchase a Tonto Pass for $6/day at any Tonto National Forest Ranger or District office, many retail outlets including gas stations and grocery stores, or online (http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5274504). Tonto Passes are NOT sold at the campgrounds.
