Fishing Lakes Quinault and Crescent in Olympic National Park

Fishing Lakes Quinault and Crescent in Olympic National Park

Lakes Quinault and Crescent are fishing holy grails. Their remote location, protected status and unique ecology join to produce some seriously impressive fish. Steelhead, salmon, and trout are likely contenders for catch of the day, and can be found at sizes of over twenty inches. Lake Crescent is known for it’s one-of-a-kind Beardsley Trout, identifiable by its head, which takes up a full third of its body. In order to protect these creatures, they are strictly catch-and-release.

At Lake Quinault, steelhead fishing is popular throughout the early months of the year. Trout is only allowed during the summer months. Salmon fishing is not allowed in the lake, but only in the lower Quinault River, and only with a licensed guide. Please check in with local authorities about all the fishing regulations that are in place to protect this beautiful place and its wildlife.
