Biking the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail

For a wonderfully two-wheeled summer excursion, it doesn’t get much better than riding along the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. With 18 miles of paved trails along Monterey’s coastline, this trail is filled with countless incredible views.

The trail starts at Pacific Grove at Lover’s Point Park. Before soon it passes Cannery Row, the old cannery-turned-shopping area made famous by John Steinbeck’s depression-era classic Cannery Row, as well as the fisherman’s wharf, with its restaurants, shops and art galleries.

After the wharf, continue pedaling for a few miles to reach the impressive and stunning sand dune coastal region of Monterey State Beach.

Here the path continues for another 8 miles or so, filled with rocky shores, bluffs, sandy beaches, crashing waves, and quaint Monterey neighborhoods.
